Seeing other girls with bandanas all the time and they look great.
Bandanas are quite an iconic accessory from the 80s and jeans. Personally, I can’t see a red cashmere bandana without thinking about jeans and the bikers.
But bandanas can also remind you of Guns and Roses, 80’s metal bands, motorcycle gangs, and more!
People have been wearing scarves for both functions and fashion for decades, and it’s easy to see why!
Have an old scarf that you need to find a new use for?
There are countless things you can do with a scarf that has already served its time, but in this overview we will only focus on accessories and how to use it!
Why? Because one, they have the power to define an outfit and two, we can never get enough of them!

But if you are not sure to use one, it is very easy to learn how to tie it. There are several options for tying one, so see which one works best for you and your style needs.
To tie a basic head scarf, follow these steps:
- First, make sure the headscarf is ready for the head by laying it out on a table and folding it diagonally to form a triangle. Smooth the crease so that it is defined.
- Grip each end of the triangle with both hands, making sure it doesn’t slip, this is where that crease helps.
- Place the scarf wherever you want on your head. The optimal place is in the middle of the forehead, but you can choose to wear it higher or lower, depending on your inclination.
- Tie the two ends of the scarf at the back of your head once, firmly, but not so tight that it contracts.
- The ends will be hanging, which is fine, because you’ll be re-tying them in a minute.
- Make sure the top of the triangle is roughly at the back of the head; it may be slightly higher or lower, but it must have the entire crown covered.
- Now, you can tuck the top of the triangle under the ends tied at the back of the head or place it between them.
- When you are satisfied with your position, tie the ends again, securing the top of the triangle and thus the entire bandana.
