Before you use it every single day, there are some basic examinations you need to go through that cover every safety aspect of the truck.

Among the things you need to check are the forks, mast, carriage, hoist chain and – if relevant – reach channel of your truck. What you need to look for are any signs of damage such as cracks or distortions, as well as anything stuck in the mechanisms, and any dirt that could affect the operation of the truck. Make sure your lights are working properly, including your indicators. If you spot anything you think is not quite right, always report it to your supervisor right away. Sometimes the type of faults that might seem minor and harmless can lead to accidents you’re not able to foresee, so play safe and report anything that’s not as it should be.
